This de-clawed Maine Coon mix is the sweetest. But, she won't leave. She camps out at my back door, wanting food and attention. She has to have a home. Why isn't someone looking for her? It looks like I am definitely walking the neighborhood. I treated her for fleas, just in case. But, I cannot bring her in. One more stray cat and my resident cats will not be happy and I just don't have the room. I need to find her home or find her a new one soon!!!

This is a stray (someone's lost pet) She is spayed and declawed. She has been camping out in my garage and yard the past month. She gets good food and water, but I have brought her inside to stay in my office. She is not getting along with my resident cats, so she is confined in there. I put a poster up at the post office and will have put more up elsewhere and call the Humane Society to see if anyone is looking for her. I might have to walk the neighborhood..Yeah..I love that NOT! I just don't understand people. If you lost your pet wouldn't you do the same? Post an add, walk the neighborhood, put fliers up? She sure is a sweet heart!

I am a little late posting this, but this past Sunday, these two cuties went home. The tabby has a miniature Dotson to play with and the Manx has a big brother. I am happy for them. And I am sure they are getting loads of attention.

Over three days (4th of July weekend) We were able to raise all the money to save this little ones life. Thanks to many people who gifted both money, prayers and spreading the word. Miracle received her surgery on July 8th at the Metro Hospital in Akron. She is doing better now and has her first follow up visit tomorrow. I hope we get good news. Not as big a poo as I would like, but time will tell. We are now starting to take applications for her adoption. Three people from all over the US. Seattle, Chicago and Maryland. Wow, that really is across country. We have a committee on Facebook that will determine who will be the lucky parent/parents of this little one. There is a big responsibility, since she is famous, to keep up her community.

Adoption Fees: $35 (includes deworming, Distemper shot)

The Vet said that they are too young for FLiv/FIV because they could get a false positive and be negative at 6 months of age. So, I did a test on one of them and it read negative. Please be advised that when adopting a new pet to have them checked if you have other cats in the house.

I personally do not believe in killing cats that have or carry this disease. You can ask many experts and they can live healthy lives late into there teens.

It was brought to my attention that apparently I am a crappy rescuer because I do not have all my cats checked for FLiV. Everything I do here is from my own personal account. So, when I TNR, unless the vet suggests it for a particular cat, I will not run blood work. Kittens I have offered for adoption have also not gone checked because I usually advice people to do their own. I am not an adoption agency. It is not often I get kittens for fostering. Most cats I get either go to a no kill shelter or I have to keep if they are not released back to their colony.

It was very upsetting for me to get berated by this person and quite frankly I was irritate to say the least. For someone to accuse me of doing a bad thing when I save lives is pretty pathetic.

Please educate yourself on FLiV/FIV. Cats can only transmit this through blood (a bite or sexual intercourse) So, keeping a cat indoors is best. Having them neutered is also important. If you are the type of person that would put a cat down because it had these diseases, then you should not be on my page. These animals deserve homes just as much as any of the others.

Thanks to all of her supporters, Miracle Manx has received her surgery. She is recovering now and is at a critical part. She has yet to use her new colon and sphincter so we are praying that she can recover properly with no complications. If she does not produce a bowel movement in the next couple days, she will need to pay a visit to her friends at the ER again. She is a fighter!

These little poopers are so darn cute. I had to move them all to the bathroom. They really wanted out of that cage. The bathroom is the safest place for any "accidents" lol They are all friendly. Sometimes a little skittish. I am going to Petsmart today to get them a cat tree to practice climbing. Not that I can afford one...jeez. My kitty expenses are through the roof! Oh well.

These two are the big kids on the block. They are showing everyone how to go to the potty in the proper place and how to wrestle. It is amazing how much bigger they are to the others. I attribute that to lots of FOOD. They had a week head start of packing on the pounds!

Well, we made it. I am so happy Robin was able to capture these little ones. 4 hour drive, we all beat. Kittens did very well, except they wanted to talk to me halfway there. When I was quiet, they'd fall asleep. Then when I yelled at a driver, they got vocal again. lol You can tell they are tuckered out. I fed them, now it is time for a nap. The two light orange, I rescued last week seem to be chubbers compared to the new guys. That's what good food will do. We'll put some weight on them soon enough!

I drove 4 hours to rescue these two cuties from a farm in Western Pennsylvania. There are three more that we could not catch, so we are hoping to try to get them soon. Finally..an update!

I have been pretty bad about posting on my blogs lately. So, here I am trying to make up for lost time. This big fella is another stray cat I rescued this winter. Most of the winter he'd come and hang out on the porch for food. He would not approach me for 3 months. My way of taming them? YUMMY FOOD! I would buy his favorite chicken dish and feed it to him two to three times a day. He finally trusted me enough to let me pet him and soon there after, I brought him inside. I keep the newbies in my sunroom for a while before I introduce them to the others. He is a big kitty and was kind of difficult to bring in. But once inside I found he had scabs all over his head and his coat was disgusting and smelled. So, believe it or not, I gave him a bath. Yep the very day I brought him in. I have done this for all three kitties I rescued this year. At first they all seemed feral, but after months of getting their trust, they all are sweet as can be!!! This fella turned out to be a cuddle bug and extremely affectionate.

I have two more kitties still outside. They come eat at night. I will have to trap them. I have no more room in the house. My husband is getting a bit frustrated, but I cannot take these newly rescued kitties to a shelter. They might not have a good chance there. No kill or not. Ohio is not very friendly to their pets. I have found. I just neutered my neighbors cat. I did tell him I'd do it. He was okay with it..I mean who wouldn't be happy about free vet care, right? It irritates me in a way because I could be using that money for a feral cat! uggh. But I cannot let a cat roam around knowing he can impregnate another cat! GRRR!

Anyway, I am trying to find some help with TNR in my area. There are lots of people who need help here!

~Homeless kitties in the cold~

I have neutered and brought in 3 of the strays this winter. I thought I only had one or two left. One of them comes and sleeps on my porch at night and waits for me to feed him. He has been camping out (just on the bed that I have out there). I have two feral houses on the porch but he has refused to go inside them. So, today I set up a little fort. I placed one of his beds and an insulated house (with the door taped open) in hopes that he will at least stay covered from the harsh wind. I also put another feeding station and a bed/blanket inside a cardboard box on the other side of the porch. Last night I got woken up to a cat stand-off. Another kitty. Actually one I saw a while back (another tuxedo) It was pouring freezing rain..and here they are standing in it ready to throw down. I had to put on my coat and walk toward them to get them to run off. I hated chasing them off, but I did not know what else to do. A fight was inevitable. So, make that 3 cats rescued this winter and 3 more to go!!!

Stray Cat Update

Since my last report. Tucker the gray and white tuxedo stray has become a resident along with Teddy Bear. They are very happy here. The black n white tuxedo I took to a no kill shelter. They have said that he had gotten a home, so I am happy about that. Though, he was super friendly, my household kitties never took to him. Tucker and Teddy though are a part of the family. I wouldn't have it any other way.

I brought in one of the other strays (in the sunroom that is) He is getting neutered tomorrow, so I need to monitor his food intake tonight. He would rather be outside. And once he is fixed, I will probably let him back out. He'll have to be a TNR. I cannot keep adopting more kitties. No one wants to adopt an older kitty. It is so tough for me. This boy is such a nice kitty too. Outside Tucker would chase him. But here they are laying next to one another. I am sure Tucker had nothing to do with it. LOL But, this kitty is obviously wanting some friendship. I had to take this picture. LOL

I received my new insulated cat house today. Another one. This one I am hoping will be more appealing for the kitties to go into. Though, it is tiny and will house only one. It is enough. I have my garage set up as well. So, we will see who claims this, if any.

Well, the same day I posted about this kitty..it was like a miracle. I took food out to the garage. Opened the can right there...and he meowed and jumped out of his bed and ran to me. Rubbed all over me. Funny how 3 months of skittishness and he turned out to be as sweet as an be. My husband was amazed because he definitely thought he was feral. This picture was after a bath. Yep, the 2nd day he was in the house, I had to subject him to a real soaking in the tub with shampoo. And he did marvelously. I am sure he hated it but he did not get pissed, he just was scared. He is such a sweet kitty. No one has claimed him yet and I have more than 4 people on Craigslist interested. It is such a shame though that not as many people are interested in other breeds, because I have so many more needing homes. Oh well. At least this little guy will have a forever home soon.

Here are two of the four stray cats that I have been feeding. The Siamese has been camping out in my garage. I keep food, water, a litter box and plenty of beds in there to stay away from the elements. He or she was very skittish the last month, but now has been gaining my trust. At least enough to meow when I call "here kitty kitty" and put food out. He knows who's his provider at this point. The tuxedo cat is friendly and I am going to get his neutered this week. The expenses for this winter are gonna be high, but worth it as these guys need taken care of. Once the Siamese is accustomed to me, then I will get him/her fixed. I sure hope it is a male though, cuz a brood of babies would not be good. Anyway, I am in desperate needs of funds, so the fund raiser will take place starting next week. ALL THINGS KITTY. This is Chloe. I did not remember if I posted her story yet. Back in September, I scooped her up on the way home from a football game. She was roaming around a semi busy street near a deserted farm. When I grabbed her she was supper friendly and I knew she had to have belonged to someone. But, I took her in anyway. I did not notice till the next day that she must have just given birth. I was heart broken, because her babies were abandoned. The farm she was at was too big and I walked to it to see if I could hear anything. Nothing. So, I decided that one rescue was better than none. It is always a hard thing for me knowing I missed saving lives. I did not know what else to do. Release her and let her fend for herself. I doubt her new born babies would have lasted the two days that I had her. But this all seems familiar. People dumping their pregnant or young families off at farms, thinking that is where they will survive. Anyway, my intention was to have her spayed and put her up for adoption. Though, I rarely adopt kitties out that are adults and my only means is Craigslist. So, I adopted her myself. I have more kitties than I should, but definitely not enough to count as a hoarder by all means...lol But, Chloe was such a sweetie. When I rescued her she was only about 5 to 6 pounds. She is a spoiled kitty these days. She begs for food everytime I enter the kitchen. She is now a hefty 10lbs! WOW. She is happy and living a good life and making friends of my other kitties.

Hi all. It's been a while. I will be pulling my raffle winner's name by the end of the week. Today I put together two of those feral cat houses. I have been leaving my garage open a smidgen for three feral cats that come around at night to eat. This morning I was rooting around in the back and scared a Siamese cat that was still hiding in a corner. He/she looks real thin, poor thing and I found some puke. So, he/she must have been gone without food for a while. Anyway, I decided to get those cat houses put together and put hay mixed with cat nip in side each one and stuck them in my garage. I have a small room extended off my two car garage that is used for the mower and is away from the cars, so I stuck them both back there. They will be far away from both wind and snow and have an insulated hiding spot as well. Hopefully, the three of them will share. I also put food and water on the table back there, because I have had other critters eating all their food. This way, the only critters that can get in are skunks and possums, but they can't climb up a table. So, hopefully all will be well. I know I am probably rambling on. I just wanted to update. I have not planned any trappings. I still have to figure out how that will work. Who knows if these kitties used to belong to someone. We will see.

Well, Paypal is reviewing my account because of my gambling and fund raising. Hey I did not know! So, you all may be getting refunds for your donations. Then I'll just have to go about this a different way. I asked a friend again about a non profit designation and she said I have to get the paperwork from an accountant. Which is exactly why I have not. Do you know how much it is going to take to just get a non profit status? I barely raise enough here to cover one neuter! Quite rediculous, if you ask me. They should offer some free services because at this rate I'll never have non profit status. I mean honestly the items I make for these raffles costs more to make than what I am getting in donations really. I am always "in the hole" and now I have to claim my in the hole to the government...who won't give me any money even when I lose money. Anyway...sorry about my rant. It just sucks to try so hard to help and then get shut down when I do get a little help from my friends. Yes you! You have helped out tremendously. A little bit, even if I can barely pay for any expense with the kitties, helps me emotionally as well.

Here is the lastest stray. I think he belongs to someone, but he has claimed my house. He is not neutered, so I am going to get him snipped this week. Yes, I will neuter a neighbors cat...lol I bought the feral house for him since it is getting cold out. He has taken residency on my front porch where I put out a nice cozy bed on my patio furniture. The feral house with straw will be when it gets blustery out. It is a shame that people let their pets roam around because now that he is getting fed he will probably hang here "hoping" that he can come inside. He has attempted to come in and I think he would be comfortable here, but my other kitties are already sharing their home with a foster..one more and I will surely just call my house a cat sanctuary already!

More Strays, Colder Weather & Fun Items

I just purchase two feral cat houses last week. I have some kitties hanging round getting fed. I have too many inside to take anymore in. I have a foster stray that is as sweet as can be but does not get along with other kitties, so she is stuck in a room alone. Though, I spend a ton of time with her. She is such a doll baby and loves to be held like a new born baby. She would make a great baby for a single person because she is very devoted to her mom.

Currently I am coveting these cool boxes for the cats. They are awesome and would no doubt be great entertainment for them all. But with all the expense with spaying and neutering the new strays and purchasing cat houses I don't think I should purchase frivolous items right now. I need to start offering more raffle items as those donations really helped with the vet bills last year. Thanks to all my devoted cat loving friends out there.

Remember Moses? He was on deaths door this last fall. He is still a feral, but is living a pretty good life indoors. He is used to me and will hang out and watch me on occasion but he runs away when I get up for any reason...lol He is very pretty. These images are from my cell phone, so they are terrible. I just wanted to share his update. He is healthy and I suppose as happy as a wild cat in captivity can be...lol He will hid under my bed all day, especially if someone is at the house. He only comes out when I am alone. He is a bit odd as he likes to watch me from the hallway. He watches me sit on the toilet and watch tv...the toilet things is odd...but whatever right? I still wish I would have released him back to the alley last year, but ya know their life expectancy is so slim. Already one of the black kitties has died. She stopped coming by this last winter. Of course I don't live in Denver right now, so my dear friend Joan was left to the job of care taker. I sure hope those kitties are doing okay. I worry about them. Living in Ohio is like living in hell for me. I see dead animals on the roads everywhere. Even kitties. I saw two kittens on the side of the road right off of an exit to the mall. God only knows what happened there, but I had to say I prayer so I would not just bust out in tears....I hate it!!! Little baby kittens??? The horror of how they live here. I tell ya people everywhere are careless humans. The few I experience that rescue are angels and I blessed to know them, but they are far and few between in comparison to the crappy abusers and neglectful out there....dang I just vented up a storm...sorry. I just don't get it. I never will!!!

Foster Cats Need Homes

Gray is needing a forever home. I have mixed feelings about this one. As you can see she is pretty friendly. Part Siamese, so she is skittish, but is submissive when she wants to be. Because my husband wants me to downsize our foster program, I am forced to give up some of the cooler cats because Moses and Chin Chin ( you know the two wild cats) will not be able to be adopted out. It sucks because having them should not count..they require food water and litter, but hide most of the time...so its like two of them don't count..lol Anyway, I have to find homes for 4 our of the 9 I have. It is very hard to find homes for adult cats, especially ones that are not as lovable as some. But this one is a great kitty. I wish I could keep her, but if she finds a good home with someone else, I have to accept it.

Petie's story

Petie..remember him. He was one of those rescue kitties from last summer...he may have found a home. I have to drive him about an hour and a half to it on Monday. I hope it works out. The family has had a Siamese before so they know they are skittish. They have two dogs, so hopefully he won't mind that too much. He is a sweet timid cat and will sit in your lap for hours if you coax him or go get him...lol Since I moved him to Ohio he has been sleeping and hiding in my dark dank basement because my alpha "Dana Bo Bana" chases him and he just freaks out. He is the only kitty out of all the fosters that cannot deal with her. Everyone else just accepts that she is the house ruler. But poor Petie is so scared he never comes up and enjoys the house. It is so sad....So, I am praying that he is happy with his new home. I will keep you posted as they said he will be returned if it does not work. But we always hope for a happy ending...

A nice family of 4 has adopted the rescue kitty today. He was not too happy about leaving as he was having so much fun with all the big kitties. But his new home will be full of love and all the human attention he could ever need. I know he will miss Buddy, but he will bond very nicely will his new human family, I think. He was so very sweet. I will miss him. Now...I have 4 more fosters waiting for homes....I sure hope Pete gets one soon. He needs a real family of his own to give him lots of love.

Here is my first kitten rescue in the state of Ohio. LOL He is a little trooper. His paws were burnt and blistery. Poor thing. But he is the sweetest kitten I have ever rescued, that is for sure. I do have to find him a home. As I also have to find homes for 5 of the fosters I still have!!! It is harder to find homes for the adults and it breaks my heart. I don't want to have to take any of the to the shelter. So, if you know anyone wanting a kitten or cool cat...please contact me. I am willing to drive up to 4 hours to deliver them. That is the states of Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, and Kentucky I believe.

Lazy days at the Carter house, as always. This is their favorite spot. Tons of birds outside to watch, but the usual activity is snoozing! lol The kitties are all doing fine, except Petie. Whom still hangs out in the basement because Dana likes to terrorize him. I need some homes for some of these kitties. If you are in Ohio (heck even another state away) and would like a shy Siamese boy...please consider him. He is a lap cap for sure, just is skittish around people. He should have no problem bonding with someone without any other cats.

If you are wondering how I managed to bring them all across country. You'd be amazed what you can do with storage bins. Most had their individual bin with a litter box. I had to scare Moses and Chin Chin into a big dog kennel the morning of the drive. That was traumatic, but it looks like everyone is over the shock of the trip. They are enjoying the new home almost as much as me. lol But, everyone lost their outdoor privileges due to Ohio's insect problems. Oh well, they get to hang out in the windows all day long. At least till the heat wave of summer comes along. Thanks everyone for your prayers as we traveled 1600 miles and 2 days.

The move is only 4 days away. I am ready emotional, almost physically and praying for an easy transition for Moses and Chin Chin into their kennel for transport. I had to literally drop trap them to get spayed and neutered. Mind you they already lived in my house!! LOL Anyway...I am living in my bedroom with all the cats. NOT sleeping much at night. I have bins set up for each cat with a litter box and a place to sleep. I am very nervous about this process and want it to be as stress free as I can, but realize that will NOT be happening either. Please pray for all the kitties and their travels! I will share pictures when I get situated in Ohio.

I have been terrible about my blog updates the last few months. A lot has been happening in my life. I have a huge move coming up. Over 1400 miles and 12 cats. Yep, I said 12!!! You remember..Pete, Chin Chin & Moses. The three Siamese kittens I rescued and well tried to tame. Well, they are doing fine. Moses especially. I am so proud of him. He is getting used to me. I can't pet him, but he is very happy and I love to see him act like a kitty. He had it rough for a while and I feel terrible about that. That's why each day I get more and more excited about his progress. So, your probably wondering how the heck I am moving these cats. (Oh and I forgot to mention I am going to trap Mary and Larry and take them with) I have to leave the other colony members and hope that Joan, my neighbor will take good care of them. Anyway, I have to buy cat kennels (the 3 tier) and place 3 in each so I can fit them in a cargo van. Getting 4 semi feral into this cage will be a task and I am sure I will need some prayers for that!! OH MY WHAT AN ADVENTURE THAT WILL BE. It is quite expensive, probably a $100 a cat. Yikes. I would like to keep up with the raffles but it is hard to do with all that is going on. I also have one more cat to TNR before I leave. That's the "deadbeat dad"...he has been coming around lately, so I hope I can accomplish this task before I move. Well, this is a long drawn out message, but it's been so long!

Update on Moses

Well, I feel very fortunate to have all the cats I do at this point. I have been bringing them into my office so they can watch Moses. He loves the company and always wants to eat when he sees them. It is so sweet. All my therapy animals. I call them. Moses has eaten a whole can of soft food this morning and I am sure he will be fattened up in no time. He is cleaning himself right now. A good sign. The crust on his eye is gone, so I am thrilled about that. I will keep you updated. Moses has a long road ahead of him. He will be caged here in my office for a few weeks, at least. Then I will see what I will do. Chin Chin has been walking around the house now. Always skittish, but it seems to get better every day. I figure that Moses will be happy with all his buddies. We'll just have two cats that don't care for humans. Someday, they will warm up to us, I am sure, but at least they will be spoiled as much as they can be.

Poor Moses

Moses was living in a dirty basement, hiding under cupboards. We had thought he escaped thru a door we left open for him. When I rescued him he was too old to be tamed and he escaped from his cage, so I could not control him. We decided to let him live in Joan's basement. She has a feral colony that lives under her house. So, at least he would have shelter. He never escaped and Joan stopped putting food and water in his location because we thought he took off. Today, I was over there scanning in homework and I hear a cry. I called Joan and she captured him and we moved him back home. In my office. He immediately start drinking the water when he say CC and Dana. He remembers them, so now I am keeping him beside me for months, if I have to. He has lived a horrible life the last couple months. I am so sad for that, but he will be taken care of here. This now makes 10 cats. I am glad I have a big house, but this is gotta stop. I have the kittens for so long they are like a family. I don't think anyone could give them a better home. That is sad. Really. Pray for my Moses here. He is so dehydrated and emaciated and his eye is all crusted over. I hope he is happy now and learns to accept me. This place is paradise from where he was, so maybe he will finally get it.

I have been letting Pete and Suede, the foster kittens out of there room. They love the basement. There so much room to chase each other. Too cute. Dana is here tolerating. She's getting better. Then there is Chin Chin, she gets stuck in the library. She is too skittish to have space to roam. She does love the neck massage, though

Kitten talk

If you follow this blog, you know about the little Siamese that was a hisser and then turned to mush after I pet her. Well, here she is. Look at those eyes. She is still very weary, but moving her into the library with everyone has been great for her. She doesn't hide ALL the time. I set a bed up for her in a nice spot where she could feel hidden. This is not that spot, but she is being really brave staying there each time I come in. I named her Chin Chin..I know funny, huh? Well, she has the fur of a chinchilla. Gosh if you have never felt Chinchilla...OMG. I have the luxury of being around fur coat companies when I am in the mountains and I tried one on. Like butter. I am not advocating the fur trade. I am just using it as an example. Anyway, Chin Chin is going to be our forever cat. My husband does not know, but I doubt she will ever adjust to anyone else. She is soooo soft though who could not want her. heehee.

Yep. I never knew it existed either. Thanks to all who care like Alley Cat Allies and Rocky Mountain Alley Cat Alliance...plus many more. I hope we all can take a moment to do something to help. One....stop leaving your cats behind!! Or how bout, think before you get yourself a pet. There are too many people who do not care and it devastates me to think just how many. I am dealing with a situation here. A family down the block moved to England and left this sweat kitty to freeze and starve. I will have to capture him or her and take it to the Max Fund ( A no kill shelter) I have way to many in my home now to add another, unfortunately and it seems no one in my neighborhood is nice enough to do the same. Let's pray that we can all make a difference. More importantly is to educate people. Thanks for everyone who follows me lowly blog and all the generous donations that I have received. I spy a kitty?

Oh what the library has endured the last year. Poor leather chair. Getting beat up. Whatever right? My brother told my husband whatever meant F' it/you. LOL I said it to my husband the other day. That was funny! Now he gets it though...and says,"that's messed up." Still funny!
So, the kitty I spayed yesterday is hiding under the chair. She is still her old self. Hiss then mush after I touch her. The magic touch. Someday, she will get sick of hiding! Thanks again to Joan for taking the wild male. He was too big for socialization, so she took him in. She named him Moses. Too Cute. He is pissed to high heaven right now, though. In a cage...uggh. I hate it, but he has to get used to his new home first.

Pete & Suede, yep I named them at the vet. LOL I put them in the library, so I could trap the other two in the laundry room for their surgery today. That was rather frustrating, we were not prepared and I had a headache. So, Pete & Suede will have the library now because I think they need more human contact as well. I am in there a lot, so it is better than the laundry room. I broke down and place them on Craigslist. I hate doing that because I like to make sure I am getting a good home. I'd rather keep them than send them off to such a thing.

I took these two to the vet this morning. The Siamese was crying the whole time. Poor thing was so scared. I'll have to keep them in the library for the night. I have to trap the two wilder ones tomorrow morning. I was thinking of using my drop trap, but I am worried about how this will work and if they will even get under it. Thank god for my friend taking the oldest one off my hands. He will be in a kennel in her house coming out of surgery. He will be hating humans for a while. But he will have a warm home, food and other animals to hang with. So I am happy for him.

Okay, I feel bad. Yes, I have not blogged in what feels like a very long time. I finished my last week of 2nd term. I have one week off, so I am making feral cat shelters with my friend and neighbor Joan. I am also clipping the 4 kittens this week. Joan is going to take the larger "wild" Siamese. I still have not found homes for the other 3. I will probably keep one of the other Siamese, because she turns to mush when you pet her, but is still a "hiss & runner" so, she will take a lot of work. But, I am hoping when I can get her alone for a long time, she will eventually be okay to some degree. They are getting so big I worry that I won't find homes for my two other kittens. Uggh, if I could keep them. Cat lady for sure! (These images are of the litter I rescued in May. They all got loving homes within a few days. Can you see why? All together now...AWWWWWE!

Look how tiny. She is like a little bear. Now living with a family with her little Siamese sister. I wish I could see how these kittens turned out. I only had them for about 4 weeks.

Well, anyway, my friend Joan painted these and gave them to me for my birthday. They were so sweet! Aren't they fabulous? She is so talented! The colors match my office perfectly. Now, I have something special to remember them by.

Good News and Needing Homes

These two are ready for a home. I have not found them one yet, but they are doing just great. The other two Siamese are not progressing. I think I get the one alone she will be able to trust me more. But, it will take time.

I have good news, but no pictures...sorry. Dave made me a drop trap and we finally caught "momma" kitty. She is the kitty in my banner. The one who started it all, I say. Unfortunately I have a few more older kittens that will need snipped and released. I wish I could get them all young enough to get them off the street, but at least they have me. For now, that is.

I listed some new paintings on Ebay. Remember all proceeds from my art go to my kitty rescue. I have 5 cats on my list for vaccinations, spaying, nuetering and all that food. I am finding that the larger of the 4 kittens needs much more work. So, I have to purchase more baby food. At a $1 a pop! When I was giving them that for the medicine, that was when he let me pet him. 'He.' That is funny because I do not know 'his' sex. 'He' won't let me near him. LOL This picture was taking between his hissing at me. I could not get a picture of his teeth fast enough.

Oh my heart sank this morning. I went 15 minutes early to feed the alley cats. On my way I saw a black cat sitting in the middle. It's not a cat, it was a little kitten. The gray's sibling. Darn it! Looks like it may start all over. I am really beside myself. Once I get two really tame, then I got my work cut out for me..again. I am not sure how to approach this. I have 4 kittens that are at 3 different social levels...now I will have a 5 and possibly 6 kittens at 5 social levels. I need help!!!!!

Venturing out

I took the two younger kittens into my office. They did not hide too much. I think they were more curious. The gray one is about ready for adoption. She greets me at the door and is always playing with her toys. Her brother won't be ready till he gets better. Unfortunately I have not found homes for any of them yet. I am not in a terrible hurry because they can always need more socializing. The other two, well I may have to find homes for my foster CC and even Polly, so I can keep them. They may never be tame to anyone but me. The one is still a cuddle bug, but won't let you stand near her. She always has to climb up on something and cower till I give her a rub, then she is all mush! Funny. I do not think that anyone else would have the patience for that. The other feral..well, lets say I may have myself a one room cat or barn cat. Either way, I do not think she will be real tame, but at least she won't be let loose in the alley. NO WAY..I can pet her when she eats, that is better than anything I can do to a true feral cat.

Little poopers eye is still swollen and the third eye was almost close for a few hours. I will call the vet on Tuesday if it is not cleared up by then.

I have not posted any new kitty pictures. Still waiting for that eye to clear up. It looks better once I wash it off with a que tip. Poor thing gets wrapped in a blanket like a sausage. He does so well. No squirms. I even get a purr on occassion. I do it enough, I think he realizes he feels better and can see once I clean him up. I have been painting a lot, lately. Not my usual thing, but I think it may become one. I am having fun with it. This Lady and her cat is on ebay right now. Very fitting. One of the smaller kittens has an eye infection. Actually, all the kittens are on antibiotics, right now. The doctor said, there was no need to separate them, if they'd get it, they'd get it. It just looks so painful. I just hope no-one else gets this eye thing. The other one's cleared up fast, but this little ones just seems to be getting worse. Even though, I am administering antibiotic eye drops. I feel helpless and just wish he would get better soon!

This morning, I get up at 7 am to check on the kittens and give them their morning meal. First, I have to explain...the other day, two of the little kittens somehow got behind the washer and dryer. I have blankets, pillows, a board and towels set up so they cannot sneak back their to hide. Well, somehow they managed. So, I had a heck of a time, pulling the dryer out from the wall and trying to scare them out. Then I had to climb back there and wrestle with them (they were freaking out at this point) My leg got all scratched up, but I got them out. Then I set up even more pillows to make sure they cannot find another way back there.

Sooooo....anyway, back to this morning. I walk into the room and there was one kitty sitting on the dryer. NO OTHER kitties around. I checked the cabinets and everywhere I could think (the room is small mind you) So, I thought...great the two farels are behind the washer/dryer. SO, I woke up Dave and we pulled the dryer out..no kitties. We sat there looking at each other. LORD, how can they just disappear? We looked for holes in the machines that they may have climbed up in. We were pretty much dumbfounded. Then Dave opens a cabinet and finds them behind all my paint supplies. Oh what a relief. I have no idea how they can open a cabinet and crawl in (one up on the wall even) Not too fun to deal with first thing in the morning, that is for sure.

Sometimes I think of how little I am doing for these kitties. I know, you think I am doing a lot. But, I feel I could do a lot more. So, I wanted to mathematically figure out how many lives are being saved (meaning not being born in the wild) because of spaying and neutering. So, just based on 3 females (which I have rescued twice that number) expidentially over 10 years they would have have over 1 million offspring! Oh My! That is a lot of poor kitties left to a horrible fate on the street and getting killed.

I have not named the kitties. I usually don't if I am intending to find them homes. This one is the female that was sick. She still has a bit of a runny nose, but she is doing just fine. Feral still because I cannot really carry her or much else. The only thing she does is lay in this basket and accept the love and strokes from me every hour or so. She loves it so. I think after a while she will be a perfect lap cat. Her sibling, the real big feral is still doing the same thing. He will let me pet him, when he is up on his cabinet. I am pretty sly about it, so it works, but he is going to take a long time. He may never be the perfect pet, but I hope he will get comfortable enough.

The New Feral

I wanted to post a picture of the new feral kitten. Look how scare he is! Poor kitty. I woke up to them sleeping in the laundry basket, so I grabbed that plant and took it out. I was not keen on them getting all wet and dirty. So I placed small blankets on top of the cabinet, instead. The somewhat tame, sibling is back to sleeping in her favorite basket...where she gets all the love she wants, when I enter. The other two are playing and doing just fine, with the occasional hiss, but that is normal. Once I touch them, they are okay. Funny, how that is.

Sneaky

This is what I woke to this morning. The new feral is sharing his hide out with his sibling. So, what do I do? I sneak up there and start petting them both. The new one was trapped under his sister, so he did not move. I gave them about 5 minutes of strokes. Too funny. I am not sure if that will make him more comfortable. But, he did not hiss. So, that is a start. I am just going to let his sister be with him as much as she wants. She knows once I start petting her, what it is all about..so hopefully she will pass that on to her brother. (I say brother, but I really don't know the sex, yet..)

Then there are these two. They are smaller and less afraid. They love to be pet and even let me pick them up. They are still a bit standoffish for about a second, but they are totally fine with kisses on the head. I am feeling a little better, I just have to be patient with the new one. Give him some time to adjust.

One Wild Ride

OMG. What a nightmare. So, it rained the first try, then we went back out and finally caught us that feral kitten. I tried getting her into the kennel from the trap and well, she just flew out. This was in the laundry room, mind you, with the other kittens I rescued. The sibling (that I have been working on went nuts too; and they both climbed the dryer vent to get ontop of the cabinets. I tried getting one down and got bit. I thought, there goes my hard work. But, after the feral found himself a hiding spot in a plant I have up there. Everyone else calmed down. I spent some time with them and left talk radio and a little light on. I am glad I did try putting her in the kennel in the laundry room, though, because if this happened in the garage, that would be that. No more kitty and I doubt I would be able to trap him again. He looks big, too. God help me!

I am almost tempted to sleep in there, tonight. LOL on that hard floor, not a pretty picture. I may end up waking up to a feral kitten attack!

OH NO!!!

I saw the larger Siamese's sibling in the alley tonight. Can you beleive it, another one? We waited in the alley with the trap for 45 minutes but he/she did not come out again. So, we are going to try again tomorrow night. Maybe it was a good thing I did not get him/her because I do not know if I should be putting him in the kennel (that is in the laundry room) with the other kitties. They are not in the kennel anymore, but I fear the first night would be stressful. I do not want to stress out the kitties that I have worked so hard on. Should I keep this new one seperated from these kittens till I can take him out of the cage or what? I am a bit clueless and now a little stressed. Just when I think I have it was down hill from here....this happens.

I forgot to mention, when I went to the vet to pick up CC's week 2 antibiotic. I told the vet I was giving it to this kitten. So, she gave me a bottle for her. She is already doing so well. Her eye is cleared up almost completely and she does not have a sneeze and her nose is drying up. The wound on her neck is pretty much all healed up. It is amazing with just some taking care of how quickly they can heal.

This picture is of her after I gave her a nice belly rub. She loves that. She is still skittish if I try to pick her up. But she is getting better everyday. This laundry basket I set up for her, is her favorite spot. She probably feels protected. I can imagine the yucky places they have slept. She is still skittish if I try to pick her up. Feral kittens (almost) no more

Since I let the kittens have the laundry room last night. They did not cry at 4am. Yippee. I spent quite a bit of time with them today. I had two loads of laundry to do, so I wanted to make sure they were okay. A new experience with the machines going. They got lots of picking up, petting and even kisses. I want them to be okay with a big human head up to theirs. So, I do this a lot. The sick kitty is feeling better and has been pretty scared when I pick her up. But, tonight I laid next to her and was rubbing her for a good twenty minutes, getting her belly. She loved that. Finally I placed my head next to hers and she was fine. She is coming along well. It is so weird how from one day to the next, with as much time as I work with them, they change so much. Honestly, I don't think anyone could give them as much love as they get from me. They are totally digging it. Every time I come in, every one of them has to get a rub down. Ahhhh and they just stretch out now and start purring...so funny. I really thought it would take weeks! I should get paid for this kind of thing. A feral kitten training camp!!! heehee. (sorry, it is late and I have no new picks.)

Real Progress

Late last night, I decided I wanted to feed them, so they might sleep in a little. When I was in there, I took the opportunity to try petting and lifting. They did okay. I woke up at 5 am instead of 4 am, so a little better. OMG, they were so anxious to get out that they were letting me pick them up. The sick one, not so much, she is a bit older and still is not keen on me moving her too much. But, that gray one was just so into it. I even walked him around the house. She (i think) did fine. So, this morning. I cleaned up their kennel, shoved stacks of towels around the washer and dryer, so they could not sneak behind it and set up a play area for them. They are happier, roaming around. I still get hisses when I walk up to them. They like it better when I am on their level. I try every chance I get to touch them and pick them up. I think that a few weeks from now, they will be almost as sweet as the last rescue kitties. Though, I know their new parents may have to earn their trust for a while. I have not found parents for them, yet. I am sure it won't take too long.

Sneaking in the petting

Guess what? I snuck a couple pets in on those two meanies. hee hee They were napping a bit and I just went for it. The other Siamese was a bit more receptive. I went for her neck and she gave it up. She liked it and I even heard a purr. The gray one was squished behind the other Siamese, so as I was petting her, I reached and pet him/her, too. Funny he/she had no place to go. I have to keep sneaking these in because they still are not keen to the idea of just giving in. The sick one slept in my lap for almost an hour today. No purring and I cannot get my head to close. They all still hiss, but it as only been 5 days.

Just an update

Doesn't she look better, already? It has been pretty easy so far to get this little one to take my eye drops. She is sick enough she still lets me pull her (ever so slightly) out of the kenel. I even put some of CC's antibiotic in a syringe and got it in her mouth. The vet did not prescribe a antibiotic, but I thought It won't hurt anything. I also added 10cc of water to her mouth, just in case she was not getting enough water. I was surprised she let me do that. Then she sat in my lap for a long time while I pet her. It is not the most comfortable for me, so i could only do it for about a half hour, but I did it twice today. I think if I let her she would sit in my lap for a long time. Funny, though, as soon as I start to put her back she realizes what's up and hisses at me. LOL Fickle little thing. That is why I can only set her in my lap on the floor near the kennel. Moving her anywhere would not work. At least I get to give some love.

The others are showing no signs of trust yet. They still love to see the other cats and end up crying at 4 am in the morning. That is always fun! NOT

Dr. Doolittle - Cat Wisperer

I took this little "female" Siamese to the vet this afternoon. What a mess. She did not like being handled by the vet, so she flew off the table and the vet said I will not be able to help her. She said that I would not be able to administer the eye drops that she needed. I said, sure I will, just give them to me. I got her back into the carrier by cornering her, so she had to go in. Luckily, I used the cat career that has the top opening as well. While she sat in there, I dropped the fluid into each eye, with no major problems. When I got her home, I kept her into he carrier and looked at her neck. I was able to cut away most of the hard crusty skin that was dangling to find a little gash about a quarter of an inch. I whipped it with some water and a q-tip. I hope it will be okay. The vet did not give me anything for her sneezing, but said it should run its coarse (or get worse) HUH? Oh for crying out load! So, this little one has been letting me touch her a little and I think it is because she is sick. But, I am wandering when she gets better will she remember that I was nice to her or will she revert to being a meanie?

Like this little one! Hissing and freaking out. I got bit by the other Siamese. My fault...they wanted out of the pen. I let them, but then realized..how the heck am I gonna get them back in there. That was a night mare. They were trying to climb the walls. I doubt they will get to come out of there for weeks now. I have a lot of work on them.

Messy, stinky, sad little kitties

That is what they are. I originally had them in my craft closet in my office. But, they kicked out a bunch of litter onto my nice carpet, so I thought I'd move them into the laundry room. I do not care if they stink that room up. I do have to rig it up so there is no place to hide, before they get to venture out of their cage. They really wanted to today, when they saw Buddy. It is funny, I am making Buddy hang near their cage whenever I can. He hates it, but they love him. He looks like mama (but bigger) I think he really made them feel at ease, at least a little bit. They were shaking the other day, they were so scared. The bigger one, which I think belongs to that mama I fixed a while back (you know the one that was nursing at the time) She must be the lone survivor. Well, anyway, she let me move him a tiny bit when I was cleaning off their bedding and he even let me pet him for about 5 minutes. I found that she has a hard thing on his neck and has a tiny it of blood. So, thank the lord, she allowed me to touch him. I am gonna take her to the vet tomorrow and have them exam her. The other kittens look fine, so I will let them be for now.

Unbelievable people

I am sitting here writing this, just after I pretty much balled my eyes out. If you follow my story, you know that the neighbors in the alley that I have been rescuing are not happy about my mission. I ran into the main guy who is very frustrated at me. He wishes I would not feed them and well would not do anything with them. He says they had a cat problem, but I am making it worse. I said he sees the cats now because they are not afraid to come out during the day. He thinks he would be better off if I did not do anything, just let them breed and die. He cares more about his lawn, than about these animals. It is hard for me to understand people, like this. He was right about one thing, though, I act like I do not care about how these people feel. How can I ? They are such *&*^^%holes! I cannot respect anyone who has this attitude.

Now, I am really freaked out because I have a contract on my house, but I cannot move to my coveted acreage with the kitties until we sell 9 units at our big project. I need that money to buy the farm! If they are not sold, I may have to move into one the units (which is 10 blocks away) until they all sell. This means I have to drive over to feed the kitties and well, it looks like people are gonna be mad about that. I won't be able to feed them on my porch, because I won't live there anymore. I am so livid, right now, I could scream!

I have his address if ya wanna send some HATE mail. LOL Not so funny, I know.

Three's company

Well, I ventured out to trap that other Siemese kitten and it worked. It did not take long, but I waited almost 45 minutes trying to get mama. I thought she came round, but no luck. I will try the next two days, using her kittens. If that does not work, then we may have to make a drop trap to catch her. She is no dumb dumb. Remember how she escaped from a trap? Well, now she knows. I really hate it because she is so tiny. She starting having kittens at about 4 months and this is her second litter this year. She is smaller than her last litter, that I have been feeding because she cannot gain anything from being either pregnant or nursing. Poor little baby! The kitten I trapped tonight has one red eye. I am hoping it is just herpes and I can give her lisene. But, I won't know for a bit because she is way to feral to take to a vet. I have them all together because that is how they have been, so hopefully they will all be okay. I tell you these are different from the last rescue. Older and well I cannot even touch them. I will have my work cut out for me. Good thing this is my last week of this term in school and I have 5 days off, because I will need it to socialize these guys. I have to keep thinking to myself that they will be better off in the end, even though they are scared out of their mind right now.

I Trapped Two Kittens!!

Upon walking the dog, this evening, I decided to walk down to where I feed my feral colony. I ran into 3 of mama kitties litter. They look like 8 weeks old. So, we set two traps and were able to snag two. They are feisty and wild and tore the crap out of my arm. I was wearing gloves, but I could not get a hold of their necks properly. It is not so bad, the adrenaline was going so it just now is starting to sting. Anyway, I was able to get them into the big dog kennel in the garage. I am hoping to use them as bate to get mama, but I want to get her other kitten first. It is 80 degrees out in the garage. So once I get them all, I will bring them in the house. It will be a chore to get them tame. They were crawling all of the kennel, poor things are probably frightened to death without mom. If you have any suggestions or words of wisdom to help me with taming them, please let me know. Otherwise just keep them in your prayers.

Doesn't the siemese look just like the last one I rescued? Looks like I have to hunt down their papa! Grrr.

Look at this poor little pooper. Carrie from SNIPPETS is fostering him/her. If you have not already visited her site, go now. She is selling her figures right now to raise money to pay for some much needed spaying. This little one was abandoned with his siblings and momma at a stock yard. Unfortunately, not all of them survived, but she is taking great care of the ones that did. Bless her soul!

On my own kitty trappings, not much going on. There may be some males to get here soon. And mama's babies have not come out of hiding yet. I cannot get to them, so I will have to wait and see what happens. I will keep you posted.

The kitten saga continues

This is just an extra picture of one of the kitties I rescued last month.

"Momma's" kittens are about 5 weeks now. I followed her home one day. They are in "Sanford & Son's" yard. I cannot access them because his yard is like a junk yard, hence the name. Anyway, I will do all I can to get to them, so please pray for me. If I can get them early enough, I will be able to find them homes.

I did see 8 week old kittens in the alley. They are really wild and do not come out with the other cats I feed. I am thinking about trying to trap them. It will be hard, because they do not know me yet. I need all the prayers I can get right now. The summer has produced a lot of cats that need saving!

I received this painting, today. Cris of Midwest Mountain Folk Art painted it. I could not pass it up. I was like, "hey, it's me!" lol. Cris wrote a little card and I had to share her comment. "don't you wish it was this easy to catch the feral kitties? Maybe you should carry around a baton and a ribbon"..now that is not verbatim, but it is so true!

Mama kitty still comes to my porch 3 times a day. She is a smart feral. She knows to wait for me and I will bring her the yummy soft food. I am holding off on trapping her till I know where the kittens are. They are probably 3 weeks old now. I wish she would bring them to me. That will never happen. So, if god does not answer my prayers on her, then we will have 4 more kittens added to the feral community. That is way to many!

It was a nice surprise and totally unexpected. I do not feel like a hero, but I do what I can.

Momma kitties and even more babies?

Momma kitty (the one that got away) had her babies the other day. She was missing for a day or so and I ran into her this morning. Skinny and her tail was all wet. Looks like she just gave birth. Well, I am gonna keep an eye on her and see if I can capture some babies. I was not fortunate, last time and had to TNR her litter. Those where the three black cats I fixed (that I want to take to my farm, god willing) So, I really hope I can get them while they are young enough to socialize and find homes for.

I also ran into a neighbor over were I feed and he said he saw one white kitten and three black kittens. Remember that nursing female I released a few weeks ago? They mus be hers! She is the illusive one, so I am very concerned that she will not bring them out to eat when I go over. Lord help me now. Looks like I may have 9 more cats to trap!!!

I may have to take up yoga, again. I need to something to help me relax with all this going on, plus complaints from neighbors. It is very stressful!

Lucky Kitties

The kittens go to their forever homes, this weekend. They are four lucky kitties! This is bittersweet. No feral life for them! I will try to take a few more photo's before they go. These are from last night, so they are not the best. They are full of energy, running all over my living room. Their first vet appointment was this morning. They did not even peep when they got their shots. I trained them well! heehee.
